MentalLoad AI is a relationship assistant designed to address the imbalance of invisible household labor through empathetic, AI-driven dialogue.
As the Founding Product Designer, I collaborated directly with the Founder, VP of Engineering, and Product Manager to turn the complex behavioral concept of “mental load” into a usable, emotionally sensitive digital experience.
The innovation lies in how we orchestrated large-language models to express empathy, interpret tone, and take initiative in suggesting fair task distribution. I defined prompt structures, tone-calibration logic, and interaction flows that allowed the AI (“MeLo”) to adapt dynamically to user emotion and context.
The MVP, built with Gemini 2.5 and Apple’s Developer Kit proved that emotionally intelligent AI can transform relationship wellbeing into a measurable, interactive product category.
Why This Project Matters
As the founding product designer, I led design from concept to MVP, shaping how conversational AI could help families identify, communicate, and redistribute invisible household labor. Collaborating closely with engineering, I defined the prompt and tone systems that enabled the AI to respond empathetically and contextually translating a sensitive behavioral concept into a clear, usable experience.
